Kim Large

Collaborative Attorney

Kim Large is a “mediator by birth” (aka a middle child).  She and her husband are raising their two teen children, and she knows the challenges facing parents today.  It can be a lot when parents juggle busy careers and demands, something she understands as a full-time attorney and mom.

Kim started her professional training almost 30 years ago in a combined law and clinical psychology dual-doctorate program.  Although she chose to focus on law and did not complete her PsyD, she has a heart for bridging communication problems in struggling relationships.  She frequently incorporates lessons from the mental health world in her legal practice.

Kim is passionate about helping, rather than creating roadblocks, when relationships fail.  She believes that the best attorneys are good listeners first.  The multi-disciplinary team approach of collaborative divorce is the strongest method to resolve domestic family problems.  She currently serves as the Vice President of this Collaborative Divorce Professionals chapter (West Michigan).

A native of the Chicago area, Kim is an 18-year resident of West Michigan.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) from Illinois Wesleyan University and her Juris Doctorate (magna cum laude) from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware.  She has worked for the firm of Mika Meyers PLC since a lateral move to Michigan in 2007: first as an associate attorney, and as a member since 2012.

Kim is recognized for her work in family law, most recently by Best Lawyers (2025 and preceding years) and Grand Rapids Magazine’s Top Lawyers (2025 and preceding years).  In June 2025, she was interviewed by WGVU’s Shelley Irwin and by WOOD Radio about the advantages of collaborative practice.  She is a nominee for the top 3 divorce attorneys by West Michigan Woman in its 2025 Readers’ Choice poll.
