Quist was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and attended the Bolles School, graduating in 1985. Following that, she majored in English at the University of Florida, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. After a move to Rochester Hills, Michigan, Quist attended Wayne State University Law School graduating in 1995 with a Juris Doctorate.
